Hike Photos

I used an Olympus Stylus 4 megapixel digital camera that carried an “all-weather” marketing tag. I stored it in a small pouch on the front strap of my pack so that it was easily available. I used 128 MB photo cards that would hold about 132 photos at the fairly high resolution I was using. When the card was full or nearly so, I would mail it to my daughter who would select images to put on the website and then return the card to me at one of my next town stops. I rotated 3 cards, so always had at least one card to use.

I make no claims to being a good photographer. I did my best to try to capture the grandeur of the scenery I was walking through, but often the light was not right for the best shots. I chose the camera for its light weight and durability, so it had few features. The biggest drawback was the limited 3X zoom feature. Wild animals tend to be skittish, and I was rarely able to get close enough with the camera to get decent pictures.

The PDF files listed below contain a selection of my photos from each section of the hike. Because these files are large, we do not recommend that you download them if you are on a dial-up connection. Please simply enjoy the few photos on this page.
